Filling Your Quota

New Years Eve is one of those days when we’re presented with a hole to fill – an unspoken expectation to make some sort of contemplative effort regarding the occasion we’re experiencing. It may be as a result of nothing more than the timing, but whether you’re sober or blacked out, at 11:59 pm tonight you will most likely have a moment of pure reflection. Even if nothing comes of it, that reflection exists for a very specific reason.

Personally, I don’t think that we could survive without those moments of contemplation. The average individual has so few chances to immerse themselves in their thoughts that it’s possible that days like New Years and Christmas are the only opportunities that this person will get.

I don’t really have a point to any of this, and I realize now that that’s okay.
